PPSU or stainless: which cup to choose

It is not a question of a better or worse material, but of where the cup spends its day.

What they share

The interior and the mechanism are the same in both — soft silicone straw, anti-leak valve, handles. Straws and spouts are interchangeable between ranges, so the material you pick does not decide which spares you will buy.

Safety is not a differentiator either. Both PPSU and SUS316 stainless steel are food-contact materials.

When PPSU

PPSU is lighter, so the child holds it for longer and tires less. It is translucent — you can see how much has been drunk without opening the cup.

It suits home, nursery and anywhere the drink does not need to stay cold for hours.

When stainless

A double-walled stainless body keeps a drink cold for several hours and does not sweat on the outside — so the cup does not slip and does not soak a bag.

It makes sense for trips, for summer and for nursery, where the cup sits in a backpack from morning. The trade-offs are weight and not being able to see inside.

Why SUS316 rather than ordinary stainless

SUS316 is a higher grade than the commonly used SUS304. It resists salt and acidic drinks better.

In practice that means fruit juice leaves no metallic aftertaste and the interior does not corrode even after long use.
